We have been innovating in the electric power train field since the 1970s. For us, this is natural progress in terms of technology and a clear demonstration of our commitment to sustainable mobility and emission reduction. With our Volvo Recharge climate initiative, our vision is not to harm the climate across the whole range of values we deliver in line with the objectives of the Paris Convention.
We aim to have all of our transmissions become a hybrid with an auxiliary battery or a plug-in hybrid or our battery-powered electric car by 2021.
The electrified power train offers a range of benefits - from reducing emissions while driving and promising low operating costs, to providing more precise driving and a sense of responsive acceleration on takeoff.
That depends. We will soon be introducing a transmission package that includes hybrid cars with auxiliary battery, plug-in hybrids and pure electric vehicles. The entire electric power train is likely to have a lower operating cost, and a lower battery cost makes more sense to choose an electric car.
Most people charge their cars at home at night, via a cargo box installed on the wall in their car park or garage. Others have the ability to charge their cars at work or at public charging stations that are easier to find in many areas.
Charging times will vary and depend on factors such as outdoor temperature, current battery temperature, charging equipment, battery status, and vehicle status. You will find specific charging times in the technical specifications of each available electric model.
